Monthly Dances

A longtime YSBF favorite, our monthly swing dances feature a night of social dancing to live or deejayed swing music. A blues/fusion house party usually follows the main dance.

YSBF instructors teach a beginner swing dance lesson before every dance. Come early to learn the basics of swing dancing, then practice your new moves on the dance floor! More experienced dancers are encouraged to join in the beginner lesson and help us welcome new dancers to our community.

Free Sunday Dance Practicum

The place to come for your weekly swing, blues, & fusion fix! Our Sunday night dance practicum brings new dancers, longtime dancers, locals, and visitors together for an evening of social dancing in an informal, friendly atmosphere. Practice your dance moves to the music of local and guest deejays.

Practicum runs 7:30-10:30 pm. We dance swing from 7:30-9 pm, and then blues from 9-10:30 pm. DJs will sometimes also mix in some fusion from 9:45-10:30 pm. It is usually in the Slifka Center at 80 Wall St. Sometimes (particularly during school breaks) we have to change location; if this is the case, the location will be reflected in the calendar event on the home page, as well as on our Facebook page.

Admission: now and always, FREE!

Practicum also welcomes new deejays looking for experience and constructive feedback. Contact music@yaleswingandblues.org
